Last year's inaugural Panel was an amazing success, (well, the Queen Mum liked it and really that's all that is important...) so we're doing it again.

Transitioning to Convention Games - A Writer's Perspective

In the first session of the Con, James Woodman (Writer Wrangler and general layabout) will invite honoured guests and con attendees Ingrid Bean, Luke Jordan and David James to speak on the topic of writing Role Playing Games for a Convention. If you're anxious about how to transition your GMing and playing style to the convention circuit, planning your game design to be aware of the unique challenges and limitations posed by a convention or just wondering how to get deeply in character so many times over a single weekend, simply sign up for this free event, where experienced convention goers and professional game designers will answer your questions and share their stories - All moderated by podcaster Professor Jimbles.

This panel will run for an hour of the usual 3-hour Friday night session slot, and is free. Just be sure to select it in your entry so we don't schedule you into a game during this session.

The Fabulous Phenomenon Costume Contest

The “Return of the Phenomenon Costume Contest” seems to be going splendidly, so we're going to do it again!

In case you can't recall why we're doing this, we'll quote ourselves from the year before whenever it was we thought this was a good idea:

“Every year at Phenomenon, we see a bunch of truly excellent costumes, that are sometimes never seen again. In an effort to catalogue these rare and fantastical outfits, we're announcing the Fabulous Phenomenon Costume Contest!”

Becoming a part of the contest is easy:

  1. At the Rego Desk we will have a small area to one side with a camera. Grab the nearest org or volunteer and get them to snap a photo of you in costume!
  2. As time permits Orgs will also be wandering the halls taking photos (with permission) of costumes for the contest.

The contest is split into three categories:

All judges decisions will be based on the esoteric and rather confusing criteria of what we think looks cool and/or in character.
